February! This is an exciting month for us because we hope to have the opportunity to host The International Hair Freezing Contest 2016. Since 2011, we have been hosting this ...
In February there are no kids after dark; that means children (12 or under) are welcome until 6:00pm daily in February. We will be open daily in February from 12pm to 10pm to give kids the maximum amount of time possible in the water!
Takhini Hot Pools is one of the most visited locations in the Yukon. The hot springs have been in operation for over 100 years. Our hot springs pools are a relaxing 36° and 42° Celsius, with water entering the pool at 47 degrees. The water is natural and rich in minerals . We are open year around. Please see the menu above for our summer and winter hours. See our "Hours & Rates" section for nightly deals and specials.
The hostel is located only a 30 second walk away from the hot springs. It is brand new and has only been in operation for 1 year. Our forested campground, behind the hostel, provides excellent northern lights viewing. The edge-of-the-wilderness location provides access to trails for walking, biking, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing. All guests from the hostel and campground receive a 20% discount at the hot springs.
Winter is coming! Takhini Hot Pools is the hottest place to be in the cold winter months. It is also the best place to view northern lights outdoors! We offer pool rentals from 10pm to 1am daily. The property has no light pollution and is the perfect spot to watch the northern lights dance from the hot waters of the pool. Rent the pool for you and a loved one or invite your friends to experience the northern phenomena in your own private pool. Our rates are very affordable. Why rent a hot tub when you can rent an entire pool?
The Takhini area is huge and has lots to offer all travelers. There are many great businesses to visit! The Hot Springs Campground is a beautiful place with forested sites for tents or RVs. The new Hot Springs Hostel offers comfortable beds, a kitchen, and Wifi for all guests. Both the campground and the hostel are located right beside the Takhini Hot Pools. Want to see northern animals? Go to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve for guaranteed wildlife viewing; you can walk at your own pace for a self-guided tour, or take a vehicle and have a guide show you around. Are you hungry? Cafe Balzam (located beside Takhini Hot Pools) specializes in sweet and savory crepes as well as gourmet poutines; everything is organic and locally grown/raised. There is a ton of things to do in the area. See you soon!
Takhini Hot Pools is located 28km from downtown Whitehorse. There are a number of ways you can reach our hot springs. The easiest way is to rent a car and drive to our location. If you do not have a rental then we suggest taking advantage of these great local businesses: Black Bear Wilderness Adventures, Nature Tours of Yukon, Yukon Culture Cruiser, and Who What Where Tours. These excellent companies will transport you right to our door or they will include our hot springs in their custom tours of Yukon attractions. Taxis are always a viable option as well.
The Takhini Hot Springs property has over 300 acres of beautiful wilderness to be explored and enjoyed. During the summer we have many hiking and bike trails. And in winter, you can cross country ski or snowshoe on many great trails. We also have a big pond where everyone is free to swim and cool down. After some good exercise, you can treat yourself to a relaxing soak in the hot springs and a delicious meal at Cafe Balzam. Access and use of the trails are free of charge!
